Qualimet’s credentials

Qualimet’s in-house lab and examiner access are backed by real credentials. We’re CWB-certified and hold an ABSA Certificate of Authorization. We’re also an APEGA permit holder, with P.Eng. registrations across six jurisdictions: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Yukon. We run our own in-house testing lab and have operated since 1973.

Yes. Qualimet tests to CSA, AWS, TSBC, ABSA and CSA W47.1 standards, with frequent test dates and same-day in-house results. A single qualification usually doesn’t have to hold up your mobilization. If you’re working against a tight start date, book with us as early as you can so a test slot gets confirmed.

Will qualifying our crew create extra administrative work for us?

Not if you’re on our program-driven track. We handle expiry and continuity tracking across your crew and keep documentation audit-ready, so scheduling and record-keeping aren’t sitting on your HR or training coordinator’s desk.

Do you just run the test, or help track when qualifications expire?

Both, depending on what you need. A single test from Qualimet is available on its own. Or you can move to ongoing support that tracks expiry dates and qualification continuity across your whole crew, so a lapsed ticket doesn’t surprise you mid-project. We move you between the two as your crew’s needs change.

What welding codes does Qualimet’s qualification testing cover?

We test to CSA (including Z662), AWS, TSBC, ABSA and CSA W47.1. That covers ABSA WPQ testing to ASME, CSA and API codes, plus CWB testing to CSA W47.1, all through our own examiners and in-house lab on your crew’s specific scope.

Should we book with Qualimet for one welder, or set up a tracking program for the whole crew?

It depends on the size of your problem right now. One welder against one deadline usually just needs a single test, booked and done. A crew of five or more, or a shop juggling multiple codes and renewal dates, usually saves more time on our program-driven track. That’s because we track the whole roster on your behalf.

What’s the difference between a welder qualification and a welder certification?

A welder qualification is the test result itself, proof that a specific welder can produce an acceptable weld under a specific process, position and material combination. A certification, like a CWB or ABSA ticket, is the credential that qualification result gets recorded against, and it’s what an inspector or auditor actually checks. Qualimet issues both together, since a qualification without the certification behind it doesn’t do much for your crew on an audit day. We track the certification’s expiry date so your crew’s qualification stays current on paper.
